Sunsets at the harbor - Osaka Port Sunset Deck (Diamond Point)

I will write about my favorite sunset spot, located about 15 minutes walk from Konjaku-So Tempozan 🙂

The spot is commonly known as "Diamond Point" at Osaka Port and is located right next to Kaiyukan (the aquarium).

I used to drive to Diamond Point a lot. At sunset time, you can find many cars and motorcycles parked by the harbor. I remember that there were many middle-aged men fishing at the harbor and motorcycle riders.

After getting out of the car and walking or running for about five minutes, you will arrive at a wooden deck. I love how the air gradually changes on this 5 minute journey that I can feel the ocean.

Diamond Point

Here we come at Diamond Point, "the most beautiful place to watch the sunset at Osaka Port".

Kaiyukan and its surrounding cafes or convenience stores are close by, so you can get a Starbucks coffee for example, if you have time to spare before the color of the sky starts to change. Nothing beats watching the sunset over the ocean with a warm and delicious latte, don't you think? ( ˘ω˘)

I'm going to show you the sunset at this recommended spot at all once.

I hope these made you want to visit there once.

Before the sun sets, you see the sky gradually changing its color over the ocean. At the moment of setting, you see the clear sun (my friends and I call it Maruo, btw). For a ten minutes or so after the sun sets, you can enjoy the unique colors of the sky.

When the sun sets completely, Kaiyukan will be lighted-up and Ferris wheel also looks beautiful in the dark.

As I am writing this, it occurs to me that I have never seen a flaming-red sunset sky at Diamond Point reflecting of all the clouds. As you can see from my photos, "Maruo" is always clear and distinct. Is it related to the air or wind direction in the port city?

You know, when I go and feel the nature, questions always come up.

Please visit Diamond Point when you come to Konjaku-So Tempozan Osaka Bay, and feel free to share your memory with us 🙂
