The origin of Japanese bathing culture dates back to the Nara period (6th century). With the introduction of Buddhism, the culture of steam bathing was adopted from China, and a steam bath called “Karafuro” was built at Hokke-ji Temple by Empress Komyo, the consort of Emperor Shomu. In those days, “bathing” referred to purifying the body embraced in the warm steam that promotes perspiration, much like a sauna in modern times.
In honor to this history from the Nara period, we have designed a Japanese-style sauna in our facility, featuring a short sliding door reminiscent of that time. In addition, we want families or groups of friends to feel the history of Nara, so we provide a spacious living room and beds and a private semi-open-air bath, and necessary facilities and beverages, especially “Harushika” the local sake, are all included in the price. We hope that our guests will rejuvenate in sauna with a luxurious and traditional atmosphere while savoring the charm of this location.
Take a bath in the Hinoki tub, sweat in the sauna, and cool off your body in the underground water of Nara-machi. Have a "Totonou" time with the relaxing chairs in the garden.
After a long day of sightseeing, heal your body at Konjaku-So Nara.
Nara Park is famous for its deer. Other tourist attractions such as Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Kofukuji Temple, and the National Museum are all in this one place. Have a fulfilling day walking around in nature and worshipping at the shrine.
