Konjaku-So Tempozan Osaka Bay is located in the Bay Area, a very famous tourist destination with the Kaiyukan Aquarium, Ferris wheel, and a tour vessel.
It's off the subject, but I, born and raised in Osaka, did not know the difference between an "Aquarium (Suizoku-kan in Japanese)" and "Kaiyukan" until I was quite old. I guess I thought and understood that "a place with sea animals = Kaiyukan", since Kaiyukan was the destination of my kindergarten excursion 😀
Anyways, this article introduces a walking route for those who stay at Konjaku-So Tempozan!
Tempozan Park
First, exit Konjaku-So and go straight to the right.
Then you will arrive at Tempozan Park.
The park has a playground, an observation deck and more, so explore as much as you like 🙂
You can also see the beautiful Sakura trees (cherry blossoms) in the spring.
To Tempozan Marketplace
Once you have enjoyed Tempozan Park, return in the direction of Konjaku-So and keep going straight with Konjaku-So on your left.
You will see an crosswalk on your right, cross it in the direction of the Ferris wheel.
Then you will see the entrance to Kaiyukan and the Ferris wheel, the central area around.
Continue toward Family Mart.
Let's use the escalator leading to the facility.
This is the Tempozan Marketplace!
They have many fun places to visit, such as a restaurant with a ocean view and "Naniwa Kuishinbo Yokocho," a food street that recreates the Showa Period atmosphere.
Inside Tempozan Marketplace
Pass by the mystery-solving escape game area in the Marketplace and exit in the direction of Kaiyukan.
To the Tour Vessel Santa Maria
Continue on to a sign that reads "Bay Cruise Santa Maria."
Here comes at the Santa Maria building!
Purchase tickets here if you want to board the Santa Maria.
I boarded it about four years ago, and I remember that it was just at sunset time and the sky was beautifully colored, and the view of containers and giraffe-like cranes, which is typical of port towns, was wonderful.
This is the end of the walking course around Konjaku-So Tenpozan.
Let's go back the way you came, following the Ferris wheel.
I hope you liked the course 🙂 The Tempozan area is not just a tourist destination, but also a city with a long history. We hope to introduce the history of the city in the near future, so please stay tuned on our social!
